Q
Why did you choose a career in interiors?
A
Everyone deserves to live or work in a beautiful and functional space they love. I enjoy creating spaces that achieve exactly that. What challenges me most about interior design and interior brand architecture is to push the bubble, explore ultimate creativity and energise people through holistic design, whether for residential or commercial clients.
Q
Do you have a specific style? What inspires you?
A
Nature inspires me and my design approach, so I would like to think that my style is shaped by the colours of the landscape, textures of the earth and the beauty of what grows above the ground (even roots create strong design foundations).
Q
Tell us about your latest project.
A
We are very privileged to be involved in the redesigning and revamping of a beautiful, historic wine estate, including the operational as well as hospitality side of the business. It is super exciting to create different customer journeys that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also a magical client experience.
Q
What advice do you have for those of us who wish to redecorate?
A
Choose a neutral colour palette that is timeless and calming. Introduce a selection of trendy colours with furniture, accessories and art that can easily be changed or rearranged. Painting a feature wall or a furniture piece is a cost-effective way to make things look fresh and new. Lighting plays a vital part in a room, creating mood and ambience. It also enhances features in the room and frames the placement of special items.
Q
What is your favourite piece in your home?
A
An old sofa that I had reupholstered in an exquisite printed velvet from Venice, Italy.
Q
What is your favourite piece currently available at Block & Chisel?
A
The Bentley Sofa in Old Gold or Blue. A great combination of contemporary lines with classical detail resulted in a balanced and charming piece, which is also well-priced.
Q
Share your simplest decor tip.
A
Only buy a furniture piece if you absolutely love it, it should be a must have - because you won’t get tired of it in the long run.
